#WatchMeWrite [4]: A Shadowplay Spin-off

Note to all: I just changed my Twitter handle from sisterofsilence to @AlyssaC_HK.

According to my end of 2014 survey, your favourite posts of the year was, overwhelmingly, #WatchMeWrite videos, so all hail the first one of the year!

#WatchMeWrite is a campaign started by E. R. Warren and Samantha Chaffin, wherein writers record their process, speed it up, add music, and show it to the rest of the world. Past #WatchMeWrite videos can be found here. Writers, I highly recommend making a #WatchMeWrite (instructions here); it's all levels of awesome and addictive.

Some of you might know my previous novel, Shadowplay, was completed a while ago, but I'm considering shelving it because now I look back, it's just not there yet. Anyhow, I'm writing a short spin-off from that, and here's a sneak peek at the first few hundred words :)

    I have never heard of #watchmewrite, but that is an intriguing idea. I enjoyed it. It is interesting to watch other people in the very act of writing because everyone does it so differently.

      I was so excited when I heard about it, because what do writers like better than letting other people see their work? And #WatchMeWrite is a really good way to force yourself to be productive for 20-30 min. Hope you can join in sometime!

    It never fails to fascinate me how we write and how we end up going this way and that. Towards the beginning we're slow and disjointed, and then there are those sections of fluid text that simply make you fly through the pages... It's awesome! Thanks for sharing your writing. :)

      True! But #WatchMeWrite normally showcases my best writing sprints; I mean, of course I try to pick the ones where I'm not completely scatterbrained, and also the pressure of taping myself means I won't wander off to Twitter or something. That feeling is truly marvellous.

    #WatchMeWrite is possibly the coolest thing ever. I love it far too much for my own good - and I love this one, as well. Definitely keep posting these. :D

    With that being said, though, I could never do a video myself. I'm too self-conscious for that, haha ;)

      I definitely agree -- I still remember the moment several months back when I was tagged for it and AAH THE GLORY. I'm definitely posting more of these. I promise. I have an entire folder of possible footage.

      WHAAAAT. Do you know how much I need a #WatchMeWrite from you. (That said, I do understand that sometimes your process just might not work for #WatchMeWrite. I have failed to make one for poetry several times.)

    I love the #WatchMeWrite videos. I have an obsession with anything and everything showing the process of various writers. I just think it's the coolest thing ever to see the wide range of writing processes.

      Yep, it's an absolutely fabulous thing. Writing processes can be so different -- I use TNR all the time, but I know many others like to play with fonts. Some people use Pinterest, I use 8tracks + Tumblr + myWriteClub. It's amazing to explore all the different ways -- and mimic when necessary! XD
